The Department of Medical Nanotechnology (MNT) has been established in ….. in Iran University of Medical Sciences. It supports a multidisciplinary and highly skilled group of scientists working at the interface of medicine and nanotechnology. The Department’s main research themes include design and synthesis of nanostructured drugs, targeted drug and gene delivery based on nanotechnology, Toxicology of nano-materials, Medical implants based on nano-materials, Nanotechnology in regenerative medicine, stem cell technology and tissue engineering, Nano-biosensors, Nano-scale modeling, Applications of core-shell nanostructures in hyperthermia and microfluidic.
For research in these areas, the Department Affiliates & Adjunct, clinicians, as well as Pharmacists, Mechanical engineers and biomaterial engineers, as its major tools. These tools are used for understanding and defining the behavior of nanostructure on early detection and treatment  of human disease, and design, make applied nano devises for transonic applications.

Training of MS.C students in fields of medical nanotechnology is one of the major responsibilities of this Department. The students are annually accepted into these programs through the National Entrance Examination. The research and teaching reputation of the Department attracts top students who undergo the intensive research and training schedules and graduate with highly developed research and professional skills. So far, our graduates have been extremely successful on the job market.

As MNT has been built upon a multi-disciplinary approach, where collaboration and cooperation are hallmarks of its culture, the Department has established partnership with several high-profile national and international academic and industrial institutes. This produces unique opportunities for both students and academic members to augment their experience by undergoing an exchange program, a visiting scholarship or a joint research project.

The Department is committed to excellence in both research, training and
marketing. All academics, students and staff work hard to support and promote this goal: the excellence, which may, one day, lead to effective early detection and treatment of human disease with medical nanotechnology, as well as create value and wealth for graduated  medical nanotechnology students.
